It is certifying the information contained on that document. Sorry, but when you have the official authorizing agency consistently and repeatedly backing the information shown on the form, that is as legit of an attestment to its authenticity as you can get.

This isn't like "identity fraud", in which some third-party would forge a real document. In those situations, you wouldn't have the official issuing agency coming out and backing the forged documents.

So sorry to break your deperate fantasy bubble of twist-and-spin here, but the ONLY viable challenge to a certified birth certificate would require there to exist an even more credible document that made the first one appear suspect.

...And for that to even be a possibility, you wouldn't have the official issuing agency repeatedly coming to bat for that document in the first place.

What you are weaselly insinuating is that the entire HI DOH (and pretty much the entire US government) is part of some vast conspiracy...that's an extremely bold charge and a ludicrous one at that.

A certified copy is a copy (often a photocopy) of a primary document, that has on it an endorsement or certificate that it is a true copy of the primary document. It does not certify that the primary document is genuine, only that it is a true copy of the primary document.

Maybe Butter has a point here. What if the vault copy has a booger smear on it and the PDF doesn't? A hard booger would probably be picked up in the scan but a clear slimey one might evade detection.

DNA analysis could determine whose booger was used to alter the document and forensic dating could put to rest for once and for all when the document was altered.

But the real problem is that none of the verification requests have specifically asked Dr. Onaka whether the document is or is not booger free upon close inspection. This is a "must-include" item the next time a verfication request is made.
