The Notorious Doctor Fibs Rises Again???

phibes final

He Was Surprised To Find Out Somebody Else Was Putting Words In His Electronic Voice Box

Well darned if the Birthers aren’t up to their old “Everybody Is A Birther!!!” trick once again. Now, the poor target is Michael Savage, or Doctor Savage of radio fame. ORYR has this little headline up:

Dr. Savage: Obama’s Birth Certificate
Fabricated: His Whole Story Is Fraudulent

As usual, there is another dumb video/audio you are supposed to listen to, and I almost didn’t waste my time because this isn’t my first Birther Rodeo. And these things have a remarkable tendency to not say what the headline says. But, it was only 3:36, so I said, “What the heck?”, put on my headphones, and grabbed the barf bag, just in case. Here is a transcript of the relevant part:

At :56

As far as him being killed ten years before, I find that bizarre, I don’t believe it. But you know, given the fact that there were issues about Obama’s friends, and Obama’s birth certificate, which was eliminated by the fabrication, or whatever you want to call it. . . many people say that’s not an issue. So he’ll go past the issue. The issue of his college records being sealed . . . the whole story is fraudulent. I want to go back to my main point, and then I’ll move on again with the Obama thing.

He’s president now for what 4 ½ years. How long is it already that we have suffered under this man. I will say it again because I think it’s the most salient point of all with regard to this man. Had he applied for a position as an FBI Agent, he could not have gotten clearance to become an FBI agent. If Obama had applied to become a secret service agent to protect the president, because of his past associations, he could not have become a secret service agent, That’s all you have to remember, I mean the rest is just spurious, or you know things that people make up. He could not have qualified to become a FBI agent or a secret service agent owing to his friendships, his sitting in a church for twenty years listening to hate America speeches by Rev. Wright. And many other things that were in his past. Say, Well what do I care about that, I don’t know, don’t care about it. It’s too late to care about it anyway. As they say in the vernacular, the house is out of the barn, so what’s the point.

It seems apparent to me that Savage was answering some stupid caller, with some stupid conspiracy theory about Obama having been killed ten years earlier. It looked to me like Savage was categorizing the birth certificate as a “fabrication” for purposes of argument and then saying that anything about Obama’s past outside of his conduct and associations was irrelevant. Once again, a whole lot different than the headline. But, I wasn’t positive of my conclusion. It seems like ORYR was a little spooky, too, because after the video,  he wrote:

Listen to Savage’s many comments about Obama’s ID Fraud

There was a link to a June 2010 audio/video where Savage goes on a dual allegiance and British citizenship rant. But, that was three years ago. A lot of really really wonderful people were Birthers back then. That doesn’t mean that they stayed Birthers.  Heck, the long form came out less than a year after that, and there were numerous court decisions on the two citizen parent stuff. Sooo, I found a later  video from Savage, from April 26, 2011, which was already transcribed:

Here’s the problem with the Birther issue. It’s irrelevant where he was born in one sense but quite relevant in another. It’s relevant because if he wasn’t born here then he’s not qualified to be president. However, even if it turns out to be true that Barack was not born here, it’s too late to impeach him for that in the sense that it would take two years to get an impeachment or any other hearing going with this congress at which point he’d be out of business anyway. That’s Number One.

But to link all of your criticisms about this Marxist president to this birth issue is a disastrous error for two reasons. Firstly, because his biggest crimes and misdemeanors are not about where he was born, but about his social policies, most particularly his economic policies, which are classic Das Kapital Marxism.

Secondly, there’s another major problem with this which is that I believe he’s probably going to pull out an authentic birth certificate — or facsimile thereof — just around the time of the debates during the next election when he faces his Republican opponent. If he does that, it’s the end of the road for the Republicans if they’ve linked themselves to this issue, but even if they haven’t linked themselves to this issue, they’re finished. Why?

Let’s say the candidate is a middle of the road guy like Romney who has never linked himself to the Birther issue. Obama’s going to show his real birth certificate. And if Romney should, God forbid, accuse him truthfully of being a Marxist socialist on the economic level — which I doubt he would have the guts to do anyway — Obama’s going to pull out the real birth certificate, smirk and say, “You know, Mitt, here’s the problem with your argument. Your crackpot extremist Republican Party accused me of not even being an American. And yet here’s my birth certificate. Now you’re going out of your way as an extremist to say I’m a Marxist when, in fact, I’m a centrist trying to help the most number of people.” That’s the end of the Republican party as we know it.

And that’s why the Birther controversy is a disastrous issue on which to hang all our criticism of this Marxist President. Remember who you’re dealing with here. You’re dealing with a Chicago gangster regime that is printing money based upon nothing. They have the printing presses. And if they can print money and they can print bonds that have no value whatsoever, why do you assume they couldn’t forge an “original birth certificate” at the end of the road and use this instrument to foist this charlatan upon America again.

That’s my position on the birther issue.

http://radiopatriot.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/michael-savage-heres-the-problem-with-the-birther-issue/

That seems to kind of dovetail with what Savage said in the latest ORYR post, that ” That’s all you have to remember, I mean the rest is just spurious, or you know things that people make up.”

Yes, kind of like ObamaReleaseYourRecords does.

Note 1. The Image. This is from one of the fantastic  Dr. Phibes movies, about which Wiki says:

The Abominable Dr. Phibes is a 1971 horror film starring Vincent Price and Joseph Cotten. Its art deco sets, dark humour and performance by Price have made the film and its sequel Dr. Phibes Rises Again cult classics. Dr. Phibes is inspired for his murderous spree by the Ten plagues of Egypt from the Old Testament.

These really are some cool movies, and the artwork is magnificent. The caption is a reference to the fact that Dr. Phibes:

After each murder, the twisted zombie doctor (who cannot move his lips but speaks through an electronic voice box disguised as a phonograph) melts down a waxen image of the dead doctor with a blow torch and plans his next attack — a sly homage to Price’s trademark 1953 horror classic House of Wax .

For ESL’s The Image Easter Egg is a wordplay on High Fives. Here is a good review of the movie:

http://voices.yahoo.com/robert-fuests-abominable-dr-phibes-1971-8073518.html

Note 2. Rise/Rises. Yes, it should read “Rise” in the title because here, “Doctor” is an adjective modifying “Fibs”, and NOT part of a compound noun “Doctor Fibs.” But, it just looks and sounds funny because the tendency is to read is as a compound noun.

Lord Monckton Comes Back To Haunt The Birthers???

moncktondr-jekyll-et-mr-hide-1931-2-g

Proving He Is A Human, Lord Monckton Correctly Signs The Answer To “Nine + 1”

One of my favorite Birthers is Lord Monckton of Brenchley. He has a lot of class, and is not afraid to stick his neck out on  contrarian causes. Which is a lot more rare than you might think.  Monckton is a natural born bon vivant, just brimming over with insoucience. I believe he propounds the Birther foolishness just to stir up crap in the colonies.  I can see him sitting in his easy chair in front of a good fire, feet propped up on some peasant, and a leather bound volume of Robert Southey in hand, reading about poor Mary, the Maid of the Inn, and chortling about maniacs, in general. So it is fun to finally put him to good use whomping some Birthers right upside the head.

Anyway, over at ObamaReleaseYourRecords, they have strung together three idiotic stories to create a Frankenstein Manchurian Candidate out of Obama:

Three Men Told Of Obama’s
Manchurian Presidency In Advance
By SA

First:

Marine Claims While In Hawaii In 1980 He Met Young Obama Who Told Him He Was Born In Mombasa, Kenya And Wanted To Be President One Day.

and second:

Ayers Family Postman Claims He Was Told By Bill Ayers’ Mother That Obama Was A Foreign Student. He Also Claims He Met Obama Outside The Ayers Home And Was Told By Obama Himself That He Was Going To Be President.

and third:

Physicist Thomas Fife Claims While In Russia In 1992 He Was Told By Former KGB Agents The U.S. Will Have A Black, Soviet Agent As President Soon Named Barack.

Each of these has a video, and the story can be found at this link:

http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/2013/07/video-three-men-told-of-obamas.html

I know that two of these stories have already been debunked,  but I will deal with the substantive claims in another Internet Article(s). For now, I want to take the easy way out, like the Birthers usually do, and simply debunk this by using some Monckton Math!  Some time ago Lord Monckton made Birther Headlines by stringing together some calculations of odds. For example, if you roll  a set of dice, there are 36 possible combinations (6 x 6=36) and therefore 1 chance in 36 of getting a particular combination. (egs. a “6” on the first die, and a “5” on the second one.)

A person could add another set of odds to this, and then calculate the overall odds, although conceptually the result is meaningless. For example, the odds of drawing the Jack of Spades from a standard deck, with no jokers, is 1 in 52. You could calculate the chance  of  first rolling a 6, then a 5, and then drawing the Jack, as (1/6) x (1/6) x (1/52). This works out to 1 chance in 1,872,  although I am not sure why you would care.

Anyway, Monckton strung together a series of estimated odds on Obama’s birth certificate  issue and supposedly arrived at some miniscule chance that the document was genuine.  This was conceptually flawed approach. With dice, or cards, the total number of chances is discreet. There are six possibilities for each roll, for each die. Meanwhile, Monckton used such well established “odds” as:

Lavishly funded bureaucracy uses wonky typewriter:” 10:1

The fact that the registrar’s signature-stamp on the electronic form can be moved about: 100:1 against.

Use of “African” contrary to written form-filling rules and 20 years before the term came into common use: 25:1

It was a fun read, but laughable. No one but a MORON would have taken it seriously, (I estimate 1000 to 1 against a rational person falling for it.)  BUT, ORYR ran with the story, here:

http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/2012/09/obama-eligibility-odds-1-in-62-quintillion.html

Sooo, lets all play goofball in the same park! I hereby make the following conservative estimates:

1. Odds that the Marine is telling the truth – 1 in 100; (This story has been debunked.)

2. Odds that if the Marine was accurate, and that he actually met Obama – 1 in 1000; (Assuming there were only 1,000 young black men on the whole island.)

3. Odds that the Postman’s memory was correct – 1 in 3; (Simply estimated odds of accurately remembering such an encounter, as opposed to a false memory.)

4. Odds that if the Postman’s memory was correct, he actually met Obama – 1 in 1000; (Again, assuming there were only 1,000 young black men in Chicago. Am I being conservative here, or what???)

5. Odds that the Ruskie is accurate about deep cover agents inserted for that particular purpose – 1 in 500; (Really, trying to game the Presidency that many years in advance with a Black American???)

I could go on and on, like Monckton, and add some more “odds”  to really zing the number up into the gazillion range, but this will suffice.  Now, let’s do some Monckton Math, and see how this all works out. (1/100) x (1/1000) x (1/3) x (1/1000) x (1/500) (Hmmm, I get 1 chance in 150 Billion that the ORYR story is true! Oops. I messed up. That’s actually a  better chance of being true than most Birther claims.

Uh, never mind.

Note 1. The Image. This is from the 1931 film, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Note 2. Lord Monckton has been the subject of two previous articles here:

https://birtherthinktank.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/lord-moncktons-mathematical-folly-or-odds-botchkins/

https://birtherthinktank.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/the-british-hysterical-society-presents-lord-monckton-or-a-flashman-in-the-pan/

Like I said, the ORYR stories are a little long in the tooth: The Postman also made appearances, including:

https://birtherthinktank.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/corsi-goes-postal-with-hearsay-evidence/

https://birtherthinktank.wordpress.com/2012/03/30/the-dianna-is-back-in-the-ssr-or-shpekin-of-the-postman/

The Marine got clobbered. also:

https://birtherthinktank.wordpress.com/2012/03/20/the-precedent-for-the-prescient-president-or-meeting-the-jung-obama/

There is also a link in the Marine story, to the Barackryphal Blog, which is an excellent read:

http://barackryphal.blogspot.com/2011/08/jim-racebannon-bancroft-birtherisms.html

Note 3.  Mary, The Maid of the Inn. Yes, of course there is such a poem! I like Robert Southey. Most of his writings are not overwhelmingly fantastic, but when you pick up a book of his, you find yourself still reading several hours later.

Southey_9_Mary_Maid_of_Inn

Note 4. The Caption and the Image Easter Egg. Many websites and comment sections now ask you to “prove you are a human” by answering a math question, like that. For ESL’s “peering in”, in the sense of looking in a window, is a wordplay on Lord Monckton’s insistence on presenting himself as a “peer of the realm.”

The USS BirtherReport Five Minutes BEFORE Being Torpedoed

Well, the Birther blog, ObamaReleaseYourRecords has a little problem. It seems that they posted this letter, ostensibly from Rep. Kenny Marchant (TX):

HOUSTON – A pro-impeachment letter written by a congressman that has shown up on tea party and birther websites recently is not legitimate, according to his office.

A July 8 letter apparently signed by U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant, R–Texas, which expresses sympathy with a constituent calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama, has been turning up on tea party-oriented sites and conservative message boards over the last 10 days. […]

“The letter floating around there was indeed altered from its original text and doctored-up,” Marchant’s legislative director, Scott Cunningham, wrote in an email. “We do not know who did this.”

The sites credit the letter to a poster using the name Dougster on a birther website called ObamaReleaseYourRecords.com – See more at: http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/2013/07/update-rep-kenny-marchant-says-obama.html#sthash.G2VNZeFk.dpuf

The only problem is, the letter is a fake! This was caught by  Jon Cassidy at Watchdog.org, and here are a few excerpts from their article:

It seems Rep. Marchant left the Birthers high and dry! The folks at ORYR are upset by the whole incident. Apparently, no one can find the original letter, which I strongly suspect looked something like this:

marchant letter

(Click on Image to make larger.)

Altering letters is very simple! It took me less than a minute to pop the phony letter in MS Paint, and remove the highlighted language, and move the rest around a little. Actually forging it in the first place would have taken a little more time, but if one had the original to work with, it still would have been a very simple process.

The phony letter that ORYR fell for was not done very well at all.  The font type is different and larger on the first paragraph. And, there was not enough physical space left for the constituent’s full address. Just the M____, and not enough for two lines of address. The phony language was also highlighted, although that fact alone would not have necessarily indicated forgery.

In the following paragraph, the language is both stilted, and grammatically incorrect.  The writing style alone clearly indicates there were two writers. In the original language, sentences are short, concise, and to the point. The added language contains run-on-sentences and lousy syntax. The last sentence is clearly goofy, rambles around, and contains superfluous verbiage.

Jon Cassidy noticed the same things I did, as you can see at the above link. But I promise you that I wrote this before I read his full article. The misfit is that obvious.  I think calling it “illiterate” is rather  harsh. It comes across to me more as amateurish or juvenile.  This was either written by a Birther, or a very clever Obot who wished it to make it look like typical Birther writings, in order to screw with them. But, my bet is on a  Birther.  Here is the added language:

Marchant Fake Letter Excerpt

(Click on Image to make larger.)

If these are the general thoughts he wished to express, a more experienced forger should have written:

Investigations are currently underway in both the House and Senate. The FBI has been asked to gather information from the Administration. I am involved with, and support these investigations, in order to obtain as much information as possible about the responsible parties.  The President is also under scrutiny, and if appropriate or necessary, will be held accountable for his actions.

That would have better matched the original language. I am surprised that ORYR fell for this. Maybe sometimes you just see what you want to see. Or what somebody wants you to see. Personally, I can’t wait to see the actual original and how it compares to my GUESS.

Now, another theological question arises. How do we really know that the first letter is a forgery??? After all, the only thing we have to work with are online images. Aren’t we assuming that we can do that very thing that we accuse The Cold Case Posse of not being able to do? Namely, conclude that something is a forgery without examining the actual physical document? Yes! We are!

The only difference is that we have a facially valid denial of the document by the person who allegedly signed it and sent it out, Rep. Kenny Marchant.  If instead, Marchant had adopted this as his genuine letter, and said that it was his valid writing, then our entire conclusion would fall by the wayside. Th0se anomalies that we found, which indicate tampering? They would be useless if Marchant acknowledged it.

Hmmm. Didn’t the Hawaii Department of Health acknowledge Obama’s birth certificates and his birth in Hawaii??? ‘Nuff said!!!

Note 1. The Image. This is a photo of a torpedoed Merchant Marine vessel in WWII in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Here is a link:

http://archives.qc.cuny.edu/sci/exhibits/show/wwii-and-sci-part-3/section1/action-in-the-pacific

The Merchant Marine is an extremely important group, as noted as Wiki:

The United States Merchant Marine is the fleet of U.S. civilian-owned merchant vessels, operated by either the government or the private sector, that engage in commerce or transportation of goods and services in and out of the navigable waters of the United States. The Merchant Marine is responsible for transporting cargo and passengers during peace time. In time of war, the Merchant Marine is capable of being an auxiliary to the Navy, and can be called upon to deliver troops and supplies for the military. The Merchant Marine however, does not have a role in combat but rather the U.S. Merchant Marines protects any precious cargo.

The merchant marine was active in subsequent wars, from the Confederate commerce raiders of the American Civil War, to the assaults on Allied commerce in the First and in the Second World Wars. 3.1 million tons of merchant ships were lost in World War II. Mariners died at a rate of 1 in 24, which was the highest rate of casualties of any service. All told, 733 American cargo ships were lost and 8,651 of the 215,000 who served perished in troubled waters and off enemy shores.

Although they suffered the greatest casualty rate of any service, Merchant mariners who served in WWII were denied such recognition until 1988 when a Federal Court ordered it.
